City of Sunrise Membrane Treatment Plant
United States of America

Location
City of Sunrise, USA

Project Duration

Completion Date

Plant Capacity
18 MGD

Scope of Works
Design and supply of six membrane trains

Work Types

The Sunrise plant was built based on a two stage design with an inter-stage pumping for the second stage. This will maximise the membrane performance as well as equalise the membrane flux from both the first and second stage membranes.

The plant was designed to allow for expansion of up to 18 MGD capacity. The population of Sunrise is expanding so rapidly that Biwater ended up installing the additional capacity as part of the contract and building the plant to ultimate capacity.

With the additional capacity in service, the plant is now delivering 18 MGD of high quality water to the residents of Sunrise. The Sunrise plant comprises of six trains, each of which produces a minimum of three million gallon per day at permeate water recoveries of up to 85%.  The feed water TDS is approximately 640 mg/l and the plant is designed for continuous operation.
