‘ Lake Region WTP to Bring Clean Water to Residents’
Florida

Location
Lake Region

Project Type

Water Treatment Plant with Reverse Osmosis Membrane Treatment System

Permeate Capacity
9.5 MGD

Biwater AEWT (BAEWT) has been awarded a contract to Design and Supply the Lake Region Water Treatment Plant with a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Treatment System.

The RO System will treat raw water from the Floridian Aquifer wells to a potable water quality with a total permeate capacity of 9.5 million gallons per day (MGD).

The RO system was designed to treat Florida’s ever-growing need for clean water.

The RO System consists of four 2.375 MGD trains based on a 2-stage design.  There are a total of 57 pressure vessels (38 1st stage PV, and 19 2nd stage PV) with each vessel housing 7 membrane elements.  This configuration allowed for the most efficient use of energy with a design recovery rate of 80%.

The RO System was supplied complete with skid mounted sample panels, framework, pressure vessels, membranes, and all interconnecting pipework and valves.

The Lake Region WTP was officially commissioned in March 2009, 5 months sooner than the anticipated date in August, and currently serves approximately 25,000 residents in Belle Glade and the surrounding cities.

Biwater AEWT, Inc. has supplied a total plant capacity of more than   421 MGD to date.
